I started looking into the Google Educator Certification after one of my teacher buddies told me about it. I was fascinated by how seemingly simple it was to prepare for it and the low cost to take the test.
I am no Google expert, but I wanted to share my experience with you. I started with taking the Google Certified Educator Level 1 Test. When you sign in with your Google Account, you have access to hours of training and self-check quizzes that you can take to make sure that you understood the content. You can take them as many times as you'd like, and I encourage you to take them all until you get a 100% so that you can go back and use them to study. There are paragraphs and videos and Google resources for you to use to help you learn everything that you need to know. The Google site states that "[t]his exam certifies educators who have the fundamental skills for implementing Google for Education tools in the classroom."
The Level 1 Certification test costs $10 and only up to 180 minutes of your time. Once you have completed the training, you will go in and "register/sign up" for the test. They will then send you a notification that your test is ready to go and you have up to 7 days to take the test. It could take up to 24 hours for you to receive the test, although mine came quicker than that.
Even if I didn't pass the test, I would still have been a better Google educator because I watched those videos and read their suggestions on how to use the Google Suite a little bit better.

Happy Studying,

** For those of you asking, it did take me just over a week of my evenings to go through all of the information in this course. I had been using Google Drive (and the rest of the Suite) in my classroom, so I felt I was relatively familiar with the content. I did do better than 70% on most of my tests the first time, but there were a few I took a couple times. I did go back right before I took my test and retook each practice test, just to remind myself of the kind of questions that were on it.
