Hey y'all. I am currently sitting on the couch between both of my coonhounds getting all of the pup cuddles & watching March Madness (Go Vols, right?). My day so far has consisted of Starbucks, a mani/pedi (because not many things make me feel more like a woman than fresh nails), laying in the sunshine & reading a book, and then helping address invite es to my brothers wedding.
I AM THRIVING.
Guys. I think I am made for this life. I have been making salads, cooking 3 meals a day, eating a TON of greens and sipping on kombucha like its water. Every time my husband comments on how nice it is to have lunch ready when he gets home from work (he works a split shift - personal trainer probs), I always remind him that it would be like this if I was a stay at home dog mom. Obvi, I always laugh because pretty sure I wouldn't be cooking three meals a day or sipping pooch like it's my job if I was a stay at home dog mom, but who knows.
I have a passion to be creative & a passion for a simple way of life and these breaks bring out the best of both of those, BUT I also love teaching. I also love my students. I love my school. I love teaching math. I love my calling. I just wanted to take a few minutes to be goofy about my spring break, but also to remind y'all that it is OKAY to LOVE having a week off to get to relax and do all the things you want to do. At the same time, you can also LOVE TEACHING & your job & your students. We work HARD, y'all. We work far more than 40 hours a week. We come home and grade papers or stay up thinking about our students who were struggling that day. We go to the grocery store and also pick up a few things for projects in our classroom & you know you can't walk past the dollar spot at Target without thinking of a way to use SOMETHING in there in your classroom.
I firmly believe that because we work hard, we should break hard. Don't pick up your computer. Do your lesson plans before you leave and then take a full week off to just enjoy family, or your dogs, or to be a tourist in your own town. Eat what you want. Drink what you want. Stay up late & sleep in. AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T FEEL GUILTY ABOUT IT.
So for now, imma hop off here, go cuddle my pups real close & be thankful for I put some food in the crockpot earlier so I don't have to cook dinner. Also, drink more kombucha.
K, love you all, bye.
Hilary
